Description

Courtney Mulhern-Pearson discusses the transitions that HIV-infected patients will experience as part of the Affordable Care Act. Ryan White, patient-centered comprehensive care, is the payer of last resort. With the introduction of health insurance coverage, questions remain about service integration. How will the augmented services of Ryan White interface with more traditional health insurance, such Medi-Cal and qualified health plans through Covered California? It's necessary to preserve the continuum of care, reduce barriers, disseminate information, and maintain affordability and access to medications. She discusses how to prevent the public health system is not lost in the new insurance environment, such that everyone has access to the care that they need.
