| | Activity Objectives | | | Dr. Phyllis Tien reviews recent studies of hepatitis C (HCV) management and treatment. She provides an overview of HCV therapy, highlighting its 2 primary goals of viral eradication and prevention of disease progression. She also describes the evolving range of agents available for treatment, including new direct-acting antiviral agents approved by the FDA.

| | Faculty | | Presenter: Phyllis Tien, MD Dr. Tien is an Associate Professor in Medicine/Infectious Diseases at UCSF.
She studies metabolic consequences of HCV and HIV infection, particularly insulin resistance, lipodystrophy, and hepatic steatosis in men and women.
Medical Editor: Susa Coffey, MD Dr. Coffey is Associate Professor of Medicine and attending physician at the UCSF Positive Health Program (PHP) at San Francisco General Hospital, and Medical Editor at HIV InSite. Dr. Coffey is in practice at the 2 UCSF-affiliated HIV/AIDS clinics at San Francisco General Hospital and on the UCSF Parnassus campus. |

The activity consists of a slideshow accompanied by audio that can be viewed or browsed by all users. Following the slideshow presentation, in order to obtain CME credit, the user must complete a posttest , an evaluation, and then register with the UCSF Office of Continuing Medical Education.
