 | | Activity Objectives |  | | In this presentation, Dr. Christopher Pilcher, MD, discusses research on new testing technology and policies, acute HIV, and HIV transmission. He describes the unique HIV epidemic and HIV testing policies in San Francisco and San Francisco General Hospital, noting how universal ART policies affect HIV transmission and summarizing key anticipated changes to federal testing policies. |
 | | Faculty |  | Presenter: Christopher Pilcher, MD Dr. Pilcher is an Associate Professor of Medicine at UCSF. He is a clinician-researcher specializing in the identification of individuals with HIV infection, including acute HIV infection. His work includes developing and evaluating novel testing approaches and technologies.
Medical Editor: Susa Coffey, MD Dr. Coffey is Associate Professor of Medicine and attending physician at the UCSF Positive Health Program (PHP) at San Francisco General Hospital, and Medical Editor at HIV InSite. Dr. Coffey is in practice at the 2 UCSF-affiliated HIV/AIDS clinics at San Francisco General Hospital and on the UCSF Parnassus campus. |

The activity consists of a slideshow accompanied by audio that can be viewed or browsed by all users. Following the slideshow presentation, in order to obtain CME credit, the user must complete a posttest , an evaluation, and then register with the UCSF Office of Continuing Medical Education.
