Description

This presentation describes a new program of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation to be opened in the summer of 2014. In San Francisco, 1 in 5 gay men have HIV, and the AIDS Foundation is responding to the needs of this population by creating a new community health center for gay men in the Castro. The program has a holistic approach, co-locating 3 programs: the Magnet sexual health clinic and community center, the Stonewall Project's substance use and mental health services, and the Stop AIDS Project's prevention and support initiative. He argues that, despite the successes of the test-and-treat model, it is not the only answer to the epidemic. Community-based needs, including barriers to successful treatment, also need to be addressed synergistically.
