Website award programs were common in the earlier days of the Internet, and HIV InSite received many.

The Medical Library Association has included HIV InSite in their top ten list of recommended sites since the year 2000. HIV InSite is one of two disease-specific sites to be named.
Scientific American selected HIV InSite as a winner of the 2001 Sci/Tech Web Awards.
Clinical Infectious Diseases cited HIV InSite as the most comprehensive HIV/AIDS Web site for providers in a September 2000 review article.
The Computerworld/Smithsonian Award Program for Innovation in Technology cited HIV InSite in 1999 as one of the five top projects in the medicine category. The site was nominated by Informix Software, and has been entered into the Smithsonian Institution's Permanent Research Collection of Information Technology.
